Truffle and Cheese Toastie

Cheese and Truffle toasties cut in half and wrapped with baking paper and kitchen string.

Serves: 4

Ingredients

  • 8 Slices of Sourdough
  • 50g Butter
  • 120g Fontina Cheese
  • 120g Cheddar Cheese
  • 35g Fresh Black Truffle
  • Salt and Pepper

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C.  

  2. Butter both sides of each bread slice.
     
     
  3. Grate the fontina cheese and place it on top of 4 of the bread slices. Then add the cheddar cheese. 

  4. Using a truffle slicer or a microplane, finely slice or grate the truffle on top of the cheese, season with salt and pepper, and place the other sourdough slice on top. 

  5. Bring a large frying pan to medium heat. Place 2 of the sandwiches in the pan and cook for 3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Place them on a baking tray and repeat with the remaining 2 sandwiches
     
  6. Place them in the oven for 5 minutes until the cheese is fully melted. 

  7. Cut the sandwiches in half, season with a pinch of salt, and garnish with as many slices of truffle as desired.
