“Tasmanian cherries are in good supply this week and on special in all stores. With only a handful of weeks before the Australian season finishes, make the most of these magnificent Tasmanian cherries.
The fig season is well underway, with both the Queensland and Sydney Basin seasons now in full swing. Apart from some minor disruptions due to inclement weather last week, the fruit is flowing into the market well and eating great.
We have a good supply of Kensington Pride mangoes for the next week or so from Bundaberg in Queensland. The fruit is running on the larger side, eating sensationally, and still reasonably priced.
Honey Gold mangoes are showing no sign of slowing down, with plenty of fruit still on offer this week. We are in the peak of the Queensland season with plenty of good-sized fruit on offer. Imperfect mangoes, all Honey Golds, are fantastic value.
Papaya is available in good numbers this week. The fruit, coming from Far North Queensland, is good value and great eating. On a terrific price this week, make the most of it as the flush looks to be a relatively short one.
Seedless melon is still plentiful in the markets. The fruit is coming from Queensland and the Riverina in NSW and is exactly the way we like it: hard, crunchy, and super sweet.
Peaches and nectarines are still in full swing and hard to choose between, as both are eating exceptionally well. Look for a great special this weekend in all stores on flat nectarines. You must try this fruit—they are amazing to eat and will be excellent value this weekend.
The Australian grape season is gaining momentum. Bag grapes are the Menindee variety and eating well, but my pick for grape buyers is our premium white grapes, which are the Ivory variety from the Sunraysia region. They are large, hard, crunchy berries and a joy to eat.
Limes are still plentiful, quality is excellent, and they remain excellent value for money.”
