Tofu Donuts recipe – 3 ingredients, 20 minutes, gobbled up in 1 minute.
Prep time: 20 mins Â
Cooking time:Â 1hrÂ
Serves: 8 donuts
These tofu donuts are so quick and easy to make! The dough comes together in about 2 minutes and all that’s left to do is roll, fry and cover in whatever flavours your heart (stomach) desires. A perfect sweet treat to cook for your friends and fam – and they’re vegan so plant-based peeps rejoice <3 give these a go and let me know what you think!
IngredientsÂ
- 150g silken tofu
- 20g white sugar
- 125g self-raising flour
- Oil for frying
-
Optional coating: cinnamon sugar (a mix of 2 Tbsp sugar, 2 tsp cinnamon powder), melted dark chocolate
Method
- Add the tofu to a large mixing bowl and smoosh up with a spoon or spatula. Add the sugar and flour and fold until just combined and forms a moist dough (you don’t want to mix too much because this will develop the gluten and cause tough donuts!). Cover and rest in the fridge for 10 minutes
- Heat oil in a wok/large saucepan to 170C/340F. Using oiled hands, divide the dough into 8 even pieces and roll each piece into a ball, dropping it directly into the oil. Fry the donuts for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown, making sure you turn them during frying so both sides are cooked evenly. Remove the donut with a slotted spoon and place on a wire rack to cool slightly. While the donuts are still warm, toss through cinnamon sugar (if using) or dip them in the melted dark chocolate. Devour at once!
