Chilli Hot Chocolate

Prep/Cooking Time: 15 minutes

Serves: 2

Ingredients:

  • 3 Cups of Milk
  • 1 Cinnamon Stick
  • 1 Long Red Chilli (cut into thirds)
  • 150g Dark Chocolate, chopped
  • Whipped Cream to serve
  • Ground Cinnamon to serve

Method:

  1. In a saucepan, combine the milk, cinnamon stock, and chilli. Heat the mixture over medium-high heat for 6-8 minutes until it reaches a boiling point. Set aside for 10 minutes to allow the flavours to infuse.
  2. Using a fine strainer, strain the infused mixture into a clean saucepan, removing any solids. Heat the strained mixture over medium heat for 3-4 minutes until it becomes hot but not boiling.
  3. Reduce the heat to low, add the chocolate and whisk continuously until it melts, and the mixture becomes smooth.
  4. Pour the hot chocolate into glasses. Finish by adding a dollop of whipped cream on top and sprinkling ground cinnamon as a garnish.
