Pick of the Week - Rhubarb

An oldie but a goldie, my pick this week is rhubarb. The late spring flush has seen a spike in volumes, so this week we have a great offer on rhubarb in our stores. Supply is mainly coming from Mangrove Mountain on the Central Coast. Rhubarb is a fruit that requires cooking and has health benefits such as being high in iron and vitamin C – it’s fantastic in pies and crumbles. Whatever you do don’t eat the leaves, they are poisonous!

HOW TO PICK
Pick crisp, plump stalks that are long and brightly coloured.

HOW TO STORE
Remove and discard leaves and store in a plastic bag in the fridge.
