My pick of the week this week is Thompson seedless white grapes. These are a superior grape to the Menindee seedless that have been the white grape of choice until recently. Thompsons are the most popular grape on the Australian domestic market. Elongated in shape, they have a light green skin which is softer than the white grapes to date in this season. This year our traditional export markets, Japan and Korea, are quieter than normal and China nearly nonexistent. As always, larger fruit is commanding a premium, but smaller fruit in bags is cheap. As a result, we have some really excellent and well-priced fruit in our stores this week. Thompsons are good right through March and most of April. Enjoy them now at their best.
