February is the sweet spot (pardon the pun) for rockmelon. Sensational eating fruit from Griffith in the NSW Riverina district are in great supply in the markets. Rockmelon are on promotion this week in all Harris Farm Markets with great value to be found in the larger fruit. Largely due to traditional varieties and growing practices, the flavour these farmers get into their melon is difficult to replicate. This week rockmelon is great value and the perfect way to enjoy a summers day. A must for this week’s shopping list.
HOW TO PICK
Use your nose - ripe rockmelons will give off a fragrance when pressed gently (near the stem end).
HOW TO STORE
Store whole at room temperature. Once cut, however, cover and store in the fridge.
