February means nectarines, new season apples, the best of the grapes and plums as a rule. The Gala is the first of the new season apples and though a week to ten days late, they have started. Look for better prices next week. Grapes are really running behind the norm and we will have Menindee seedless for a few more weeks until everyone’s favourite the Thomson seedless get underway, it is promising to be a great year at this stage.
Nectarines are definitely late also, so stick with white peaches this week, unless price is no object then the yellow nectarines are superb eating, but relatively dear still. Plums appear to be on track with Amber Jewels being the best value but the highly sought after and very expensive Queen Garnets are in our stores this week.
