Dutch carrots are usually more expensive than the price they are at this week. In fact, we will sell them at around half last week’s price. Smaller, thinner, and far more delicate than regular carrots, they are delicious roasted with salt and a drizzle of olive oil, possibly even a little garlic. Not as cheap but also fantastic to eat are the purple variety, both varieties are a fantastic addition to any hearty winter meal.
HOW TO PICK
Look for firm carrots with bright orange colour and smooth skin. Avoid carrots if they are limp or black near the tops.
HOW TO STORE:
To keep your carrots crisp and fresh, simply store them in a container of water and in the fridge! Whole carrots stay nice and crunchy in a cold water bath. If the water starts to look cloudy, just swap it out with fresh water as needed.
