Pick of the Week - Cherry Truss Tomatoes

Cherry truss tomatoes on the vine sitting on a wooden chopping board

My pick this week are those fabulous, highly flavoured, cocktail tomatoes on the truss. They are much smaller than the regular truss and really good eating. Leave them on the vine to keep them fresh! Great in salads or pasta dishes and in my house, we oven roast them or sometimes throw them on the barbecue – again, leaving them on the vine. It’s very rare that we have them as cheap as they are this week.

HOW TO PICK

Cherry Truss Tomatoes ripen on the vine, so they should have a rich deep red colour. The vine itself is in indicator of quality and should be a vibrant green.

HOW TO STORE

Store your toms at room temperature, out of the sun and with the stem side down to help prevent moisture from leaving, and bacteria from entering the tomato!
