Aussies all love their cherries for Christmas. Sometimes this can be problematic with weather issues. This Christmas looks to be an absolute cracker and there are no issues. The cherries are now coming from all over the country, NSW, Victoria mostly, but also South Australia and the earliest of our Tasmanian crop. There are now too many different varieties, all of them good at different times, from different areas for me to recommend any single variety or area. The usual rules apply. The bigger the cherry the dearer they will be. Most people want black not red varieties so big, black and crunchy is what we all seek. We have cherries to suit every budget this week. To me, it makes sense to buy a case later in the week. They travel really well and store easily in your fridge. The fruit is excellent, some of our premium 2kg boxes this week are the best cherries you will buy. Lots of other fantastic fruit available also this week, especially those Mareeba KP mangoes.
HOW TO PICK
Choose plump, glossy cherries with bright green stems. Avoid soft, dull or bruised fruit.
HOW TO STORE
Keeping the fruit cool and dry is key, store in the fridge and only rinse when ready to eat.
