Black America grapes are not from America at all, that is just the name of the variety. They actually come from Victoria and are a fresh grape that is being picked right now. The variety is a cross between Black Muscatel and Ribier grapes, they look like black muscatels but have a less pronounced flavour. I just think eating a freshly picked piece of fruit where possible has got to be the best option. Not quite as sweet as the whites we have been enjoying but a crisp fresh flavour. They are a seeded grape which doesn’t bother me at all but quite a few of the under forty age group it does bother.
HOW TO PICK
Choose grapes with a crisp firm flesh. Avoid soft or wrinkled fruit.
HOW TO STORE
Store unwashed grapes in an airtight container or in a sealed plastic bag in the fridge. For longer lasting grapes, wash only just before serving.
