Dave's Market Update
In Veg
Unusually for this time of the year we have very strong supplies of cup mushrooms and these will be on special in all our stores this week. Broccoli is very well supplied, great quality and will be in all stores. Imperfect kumera, Dutch carrots and celery are also at bargain prices this week. Celery has been quite dear and has now come right back to the field. Enough of most veg, so easy veg shopping this week.
In Fruit
A lot of excitement around new season imperial mandarins as is always the case. A caution though many brands are not great this year. We are seeing gas burn on immature fruit that are being ripened at this time. A lot of the cheaper fruit available is dry. That said we think our fruit is good, not perfect but good. We have started our Flavourfall plums which will run for 3 or 4 weeks now. Lemons and imperfect lemons are cheap and good and our Sydney stores have a very good line of smaller Fuyu which are now from the southern areas, that fruit is the best eating of the year.
As well as the lemons remaining great value and as we approach the end of our imported navel season, some of the wholesalers are keen to clear the decks. We will have specials in both these lines this weekend. And of course, that once but no longer luxury line, avocados, continue to be coming to Sydney in record numbers and prices remain cheap.

Dave's Pick of the Week
We are currently seeing some strong volumes of button mushrooms in the markets and growing conditions are great for mushroom production. We are at prices experienced only a handful of times during the year. Quality is fantastic so make sure button mushrooms are on this week’s shopping list.
