IN FRUIT
This week sees more new season apples getting underway. We will have new season Fuji apples are avaliable and our Gala apples are now coming from cooler areas particularly in NSW and will be a crisper, better piece of fruit than they have been. Time to put an apple in the lunch box again. The other line that really comes into its own in late Feb and early March is grapes. The most popular of the white grapes we sell are the Thompson seedless, better than the Menidees we have been eating and these are now in full swing and getting better every week. That said, personally I love those delicate little Sultana grapes - they were the grapes of my generation. They are an incredibly sweet, all natural piece of fruit that is only around for three or four weeks and well worth tasting. Strawberries continue to be difficult and blueberries followed by raspberries continue to be the best berry option. In plums the two picks for the week are sugar plums and Tegan Blues. Both super sweet, they’re probably the best pick of all the summer stone fruit.
IN VEGETABLE
Vegetables remain largely unchanged this week. Broccolini is very good and very attractively priced and corn is also very good value.
