Dave's Market Update 01.04.2014

IN FRUIT

In fruit apples, grapes (particularly crimsons) and pears continue to dominate sales. Pawpaw has eased in price this week. Mandarin sales continue to surprise us, they are really going well for this early in the season and this is a reflection of how well they are eating. For plums this week I recommend September Candies and Flavour Falls – the last good plum which come from Western Australia and run until May.

IN VEGETABLE

As always happens at this time of the year our focus starts to move more to vegetables. This week we are promoting sweet corn as our pick of the week in vegies. Extremely versatile, great tasting and now at its prime you can boil, BBQ or microwave this product which is much loved by all generations. This week gold squash will be at its absolute best, not a massive seller but a nice change and good value this week. Available at super low prices in our stores this week; snow peas, celery, mushrooms, fennel, English spinach, spinach and all pumpkin.
