Pick of the Week - Broad Beans

My pick of the week this week is broad beans.

 

"The rain in the past three years has meant it’s been a while since I would recommend them. This year, they are of fantastic quality and cheap. October is their best time! I don’t like to store them, we try to buy them fresh and use them straight away. They will keep a couple of days in the fridge however the fresher they are, the better outcome for the consumer. It truly is a spring vegetable in season right now."

HOW TO PICK

Buy broad beans as fresh as possible; pods should be firm and crisp. Avoid any that feel soft, with pockets of air inside.

 

HOW TO STORE

Keep in a perforated bag in the fridge for up to five days.
