My pick this week for QLD is fresh Medjool dates from California.
We only grow a minute amount here in Australia out near Alice Springs. The premium dates in the world come from California. They only crop once a year and are an absolutely delicious fruit. I love to munch on them any time and really enjoy taking the seed out and stuffing them with blue cheese and, of course, accompanied by a glass of wine!
The 454 gm packet (that’s one pound in California) is on special in our Queensland stores this week. They keep for months, best in the fridge but quite Ok outside in the cooler months. The new season is harvested in late September and usually arrives in Australia towards the end of October. So the dates you buy this week will be the same dates for the next couple of months.
