My pick this week is one of my favourite fruits: the Lychee. There are many different varieties of this delicious fruit and this week we start the Kwai May pink variety. Not as big as some of the recent Lychee varieties we have been selling; this variety is still very sweet and has a smallish seed, so are very good value. These lychees are the most common variety grown in Australia, and often referred to as B3's. They will be available for the next three or four weeks. If your my age and your childhood experience with Lychees was that they came out of a tin (that was pretty well the only choice 30 years ago), then let me tell you that you are in for a real treat! At this time of year, it's best to keep them in your fridge, not in the fruit bowl and to consume them within three days of purchase. Very attractively priced at all HFM stores this week.
