My pick this week is Broccolini. Original broccolini is a cross between broccoli and Chinese kale (Gai lan). Broccolini is made up of small broccoli flowerets with a long thin stalk. A word of caution here, beware of imitation products. Broccolini has sweet stalks which are sweet and tasty to eat. Imitation products quite often have bitter stalks which can be inedible or at least unpleasant to eat.
Broccolini makes the perfect side dish. Prepared in no time, simply steam for a few minutes, add a drizzle of good quality oil, some herbs and spices and you have a delicious vegetable ready to go.
