Pick of the Week - Yellow and White Nectarines

Sweet delicious nectarines are in abundance this week at the Farm. Characteristically similar to peaches without the fuzz they are sweet and succulent fruit. Nectarines are low in calories and contain no saturated fats. They are packed with numerous health promoting anti-oxidants, plant nutrients, minerals and vitamins. Nectarines are great sliced and added to salads and desserts, or pureed and made into sorbets and drinks. Great with chicken, coconut, basil, blueberries, lemon grass, lemons, kaffir lime leaves, oranges, pistachios and ice-cream.

HOW TO PICK
Select fruit that is fragrant, firm, plump and richly coloured with smooth, glossy skin. The fruit should yield slightly when gently pressed.

HOW TO STORE
Ripen at room temperature out of direct sunlight. The fruit will have a rich yellow colour at the stem end when ripe. Once ripe, store in an unsealed bag in the fridge for up to three days.
