A new season of Williams pears arrives into stores this week and they are absolutely fantastic. Only available two to three months of the year this medium sized pear is famous for its yellow colour when ripe. Williams pears are a versatile fruit, ideal fresh as a snack, or for poaching, baking and slicing into salads. Pears are high in fibre which can help lower cholesterol. Williams pears ripen quickly, once they start developing a touch of yellow they will be ready to eat in a day or two.
HOW TO STORE
Store at room temperature in a fruit bowl. When ripe store them in the fridge to prolong their life. Doing this should see them last 3 to 4 days.
