Nuts about the big picture: community, real food and regenerative agriculture.
Brookfarm has supplied nutty goodness to Harris Farm since 2004. All about the flavour, texture and taste of everyone’s favourite nut, we farm our macadamia’s in tune with, not at the expense of the environment.
In 1988, driven by a dream to make the Byron Bay hinterland home, Pam and Martin Brook turned a tumbledown dairy into a macadamia farm. Beginning as a barren, weed-ridden property, Brookfarm is now a farmed Regen Agriculture success story.
Over 30 years, our family has nurtured natural balance through a fully integrated, sustainable farming system. Planting over 35,000 rainforest and eucalypt trees, we’ve rehabilitated the farm’s ancient subtropical rainforest to a green wildlife haven. The native insects, bees, platypus, owls, koalas, turtles, water dragons, snakes and birds are back.
Since the beginning, we’ve built sustainability into everything we do; set on a circular economy. Our business practices aim for zero landfill; from our building design to regenerative farming processes and the 288 solar panels that power our office and bakehouse. To minimise waste, we find homes for our imperfect product, and we’re working on an innovative, recyclable doy pouch.
To keep the nut-boring, Spotting Bug at bay, we bought in the Trichogramma Wasp. Our breeding owls keep their bellies full snacking on up to 1,200 rats and mice a year, and we keep Native Australian bees to pollinate our trees.
The macadamia, Australia’s indigenous nut, is native to the Northern Rivers. Our groundbreaking 4,000-tree macadamia farm was one of the first to use biological practices to control pests and leave the soil better than we found it.
Sweet, buttery bites, our macadamia’s are naturally magnificent. At Brookfarm, we’re all about bringing out the magic of our nuts by making real, ready to eat food. In 2000, we sold our first batch of macadamia muesli and macadamia oil at the Bangalow Markets. Two decades later, we sell our range of macadamia mueslis, granolas, muesli bars, premium nut mixes and oil, across Australia and worldwide.
Now a prime Australian gourmet food producer, Brookfarm is dedicated to Australian farmers, sustainable agriculture and independent retailers. We support the community that supports us through fundraising and local and national initiatives. And we use local resources and create regional jobs. Our partnerships are our passion; from the Bunjum Aboriginal Corporation to the Byron Writers Festival.
Continuing the generational business, Will Brook remains committed to health and wellbeing. We make the highest quality, real food; breakfast delights and beyond, packed with vitamins, nutrients and antioxidants. Our fine all-natural, non-GMO ingredients come from sustainable farms and are a cracking-delicious bite.
We’re determined to add crunch to the Regen movement. Find out more about Brookfarm and shop nutty goodness.
