At Harris Farm, we nurture special relationships with our growers in an effort to provide the freshest, best quality produce possible. One such relationship is with the Rachele family of Central Park Orchards. This third generation farming family from Shepparton in Victoria's Goulburn Valley has been supplying us with beautiful pears for over 8 years.
The Rachele family grow many varieties of pears, from the traditional Williams and Packham, to the increasingly well-liked Josephine, Beurre Bosc and Corella pears.
"Our best pears go to Harris Farm," says Jason Rachele. "We know the Harris family, and their customers expect the very best, so we aim to supply the best.
Our 1kg punnets of pears are proving very popular with shoppers. They're great value, and customers find the pears keep well in the fridge in the packaged container."
Jason recommends buying pears of varying ripeness. Choose ones a little firm and green, keep in the fridge until you'd like to ripen them, and then ripen at room temperature. Choose more yellow coloured ones to enjoy straight away.
