Dave's Market Update
In Fruit
“This week will see the end of the KP mangoes except for the few southern ones we get in a month or so. Gala apples and Williams pears, both new season are now eating well. Grapes are in between with some really excellent white varieties just starting to - it might be best to buy Natural sultanas for this week, they small but sweet.
In stone fruit, peaches and nectarines are fantastic. Cherries are very near the end of, and some of the better varieties of plums are underway. The Queen Garnett variety are particularly sweet, not that cheap but fantastic eating. We also have some very good figs getting underway."
In Veg
"A halving of the corn price is our best vegetable news this week. It’s all new season tender sweet corn at really great price.
Lebanese cucumbers continue to be well-priced and broccoli is easing in price. Snacking carrots, ideal for the school lunch box are on special this week. Basil is cheap and by this weekend, we will have good quality imperfect Kumera on your shopping list again.”

Dave's Pick of the Week
"Summer corn is now in full swing. It grows from NSW right through to Victoria and it’s now at its best. I feel the loose product rather than the packaged in plastic product is far better. It keeps and stores in its natural packaging really well.
A couple of dollars buys you a lot corn this week. Try it on the barby with lemon or lime squeezed over it. You can cook it with or without the husk on, though clearly, if you are using lemon in the process the husk needs to come off. Fantastic on the barby (husk off). The corn I have been eating this week is as good as it gets, superb quality!”
