Dave's Market Update
In Veg
Again, Australian asparagus is the pick of the week in spring vegetables. The weather is perfect for growing and the crop is fantastic and even less expensive than last week. We also have a fantastic line of cherry tomatoes around half the price of last week. Tomatoes are not quite as cheap as last week, however, the imperfect line still enables a very inexpensive to be on sale in every store.
Broccolini is great value. Both zucchini and artichokes are increasing in supply. NSW stores have a fantastic offer of Chinese vegetables, perfect for your stir fry. All vegetables are inexpensive and all are at their best. Enjoy spring!”

In Fruit
“This week sees Lady Finger bananas as our bargain of the week. I love them, but they must be ripe. Definitely must be riper than the regular Cavendish that are so popular. It’s rare that Lady fingers are the cheapest banana we have, so enjoy them this week. Also, large rockmelons from the Northern Territory have come back in price and are great value this week.
Mangoes are on the verge of flooding in. In ten days time, they will be the fruit of choice. In the meantime, both strawberries and blueberries are just perfect. They are the cheapest price this season and are fantastic to eat."

Dave's Pick of the Week - Lady Finger Bananas
“My pick this week is Lady Finger bananas. It’s a banana that many people in Qld and an older generation in NSW prefer and buy even if, as is usually the case, they are dearer than the far more common Cavendish banana. They are the banana we eat in our household. They are sweeter than your regular Cavendish.
They MUST be eaten ripe. In fact, we eat them as they start to go black on the skin. Eating them at the same stage of ripeness as a Cav will disappoint.
This week, they will be the cheapest banana we have so great week to buy and try them. The price won’t last, so give them a go.”
