Dave's Market Update
In Veg
"The same warmer weather that has increased the berry supply has increased the supply of a wide range of vegetables as well. Aussie asparagus which we all love to consume in spring is easing in price and by next week will be cheap.
Broccoli, broccolini and cauliflowers are all set to fall in price. Iceberg lettuce particularly has fallen and will be cheap by this weekend. So, as well as fruit being cheaper expect your vegetable bill to ease this week as well.”

In Fruit
“It’s berry week this week. We have blueberries and strawberries both with increased supply due to warm weather in the growing areas and this next 10 days or so will see fantastic quality at very cheap prices. With no rain in sight and the weather not too hot, should ensure the quality stays fantastic.
Mangoes from the territory are also underway. They are very good this season. Our only issue is trying to get the fruit in a ripe condition to sell. You will certainly fill your fruit bowl with top quality produce for a lot less money than you would have a week ago."

Dave's Pick of the Week - Blueberries
“This is the time that NSW blueberries come into their own. Massive supplies of Queensland strawberries put pressure on the blueberry price, plus extra supply from NSW means prices start to ease.
Growing conditions are perfect and so the fruit is now beautifully sweet and crunchy. To me, the small premium we charge for our premium fruit is money well spent. The consensus of experts’ opinion seems to be that blueberries are the healthiest of all the berries, low in calories, high in vitamin C and antioxidants. For this next five or so weeks, really inexpensive.”

HOW TO STORE
Store in the fridge and don't wash berries until right before eating. For better tasting berries, always pull them out of the fridge half an hour before eating them.
