Dave's Market Update
Christmas Trees
"The Christmas trees are looking amazing this year. Our trees are grown in Irrewarra, about an hour southwest of Melbourne. The moderate climate down there produces the best quality Christmas trees. With excellent growing conditions, this year’s trees are fantastic in size and shape. This weekend is the perfect weekend to launch the festive season."

In Veg
"Heaps of opportunities this week in vegetables. The long warm days has seen the Sydney basin Lebanese cues and baby cues come on in strong numbers. Shallots and Dutch carrots are also great quality and at a very keen price in stores.
Tomatoes are still great value this with Roma tomatoes and truss tomatoes the highlights.
Other vegetables lines worth considering this week include coriander, kale, Silver beet, basil, zucchini and imperfect Kumera."

In Fruit
"There is a plethora of fruit opportunities this week for customers.
Peaches and nectarines continued to be well supplied and are eating better each week. Look for plenty of value in our imperfect range of peaches and nectarines.
There is a mango for everyone this week! North Queensland Kensington prides season has kicked off and are looking great. Honey Gold mangoes are in all stores and eating beautiful as we transition from the Northern Territory season to the Queensland season. R2E2 mangoes primarily from the Burdekin region in Queensland are also plentiful and are eating well. There’s plenty of value in our imperfect mangoes.
This week, we start with Fay Zee Sui lychee. These lychees are the small seed, more flesh variety which are the best to eat.
Strawberries are in well supplied this week. Fruit is eating well but some advice would be to purchase as close to the time of consumption as the warm conditions will have an impact on the shelf life. Raspberries and blueberries are well also supplied this week and great value, but the same advice as the strawberries is pertinent, keep all purchases close to the day of consumption as possible as the shelf life has been reduced.
Rockmelons are still available in good numbers. Coming from far north and central Queensland the fruit is nice, sweet, and well-priced this week. Seedless melons also from Queensland are well supplied and eating terrific.”
Pick of the Week - Papaya
“The warm weather in Far North Queensland has led to volumes of papaya spiking this week. The quality is fantastic, and the price is even better.
Best eaten when the fruit is a bright yellow in colour.”
