IN FRUIT
The smell of mangoes fills the air in Sydney markets. This week we finally herald the arrival of the Northern Territory mango season. Held back by mild winter temperatures the Darwin mango season is around two weeks later than normal. Arrivals are now very strong so expect to see some good value in mangoes over the coming weeks. Fruit quality is very good and they are eating exceptionally well due to the extra hanging time. Seedless watermelon is on special this week at a red hot price. This new season melon from far North Queensland is as crunchy as an apple, a sweet refreshing treat to combat the warmer days ahead, a must for this week shopping list. This week red seedless grapes are in their prime, deliciously sweet, they are a great snack for kids.
IN VEGETABLE
In the tomatoes category my pick this week are cherry tomatoes. A favourite amongst our shoppers cherry tomatoes are coming from Bundaberg in Queensland and make for an excellent accompaniment to any summer salad. Hass avocados are also available in good quantities this week with plenty of good value for shoppers in the larger sizes.
