IN FRUIT
In fruit this week and next week will see Queensland strawberries really peak in supply. More rain in Queensland will finish these off but at the moment we are ok. As strawberry prices decline demand increases and this in turn reduces supply in the other berries. I would not be surprised to see these also cheaper in the next week. Our West Australian growers are very keen to send stock to Sydney so I think there will be strawberry prices for weeks to come. All citrus with the exception of limes continue to be well supplied but apples are not quite as plentiful as they have been.
IN VEGETABLE
At last we see signs of vegies coming back in price. For something different this week we have a very good offer of punnets of grape kumato tomatoes. We rarely offer these at any discount but they are a really attractive special this week. A really good drink throughout a lot of our growing areas will ensure very good supplies over the next month. As a result we have two absolutely fantastic specials on two of our most popular winter veg this week, broccoli and corn, both half price or less than the price a week ago lots of other vegies also look to being cheaper either now or by the weekend. Beans, snow peas and cauliflowers are leading the charge in this area. All potatoes continue to be excellent quality and very well priced.
