This week, we have smaller, sweeter spring lamb rack out of Victoria which looks sensational in colour and quality. Ironically, when the abundance and quality is there the price drops. Nice light fat scored product with a good coverage, this is definitely a fantastic offer. I am sure even with two racks per pack these will fly although when value is value, even the bigger purchase weight is hard to ignore. If you are looking to try something different, simply pull the layer of external fat which can be done by hand with relative ease, then simply flip over to the bone side, take the knife and cut along each bone to make superb cutlets, BBQ or pan fry to medium rare, and just have these for your next big BBQ with a nice Tzaziki dip for an awesome way to entertain on mass!
The week is pretty solidly represented across all proteins actually, and with the chicken tenderloins that make brilliant BBQ kebabs or panko crumbed chicken baked in the oven which are brilliant with a crisp salad – you won’t go too far wrong with this deal. To compliment the chicken, something a little richer is the pork fillets. No explanation or further comments required. Near $20 a kilo cheaper than the standard majors pricing, says everything.
Now for beef, there is a double whammy. The rump steak will continue to be on special until stocks last as the weather didn’t quite get there on the weekend to suit that BBQ mindset I had hoped for. The main beef special this week is a nicely cured piece of corned silverside. It’s probably best eaten in spring, and the value is incredible. A nice white sauce along with some steamed spuds, really brings back memories of my childhood and I have to laugh thinking about it now, mum really did make an excellent white sauce!
To round out for the week a very strong middle bacon special at $6.99 each for the full kilo – incredible value. Even loose, this stock at best is found up around $8.99 so you should definitely have this in your basket this week.
