It may now be sounding like a broken record, but with the tight market and another week of record highs on the Eastern Young Cattle Indicator, beef supply is pretty tight. We had to go with a mixed week in terms of product lines, but there will be sensational standing rib roasts of excellent value. This yearling beef is a 3 ribber, so it’s nice roasted with some spuds and a nice side of onion rings, or cut into cattleman’s cutlets for those willing to brave the BBQ cooking in this still very cool weather. We also have some blade steak out of VIC and these are packed around the 750g tray with 2 or 3 pieces in the pack. These will be perfect to dice up and use in slow cooking recipes, as a stir fry or stroganoff strip and I tell you what, there isn’t much that beats a good stroganoff when your feeling cold and just need a solid comfort feed. This is a limited quantity however, and once it is gone, it is gone.
Chicken is the quick cook option of the week and we are offering the ever popular breast fillets on special. For the lamb, we have the extremely popular hind shanks and I get the feeling these are our last go until the spring suckers start to roll through, with pretty heavy rains this week across much of Victoria it will have slowed the job up a fair bit.
Lastly, we also have the one kilo middle bacon on special this week.
