Pick of the Week - Black America grapes

Black America Grapes

Black America grapes are not from America at all, that is just the name of the variety. They actually come from Victoria and similar to the Crimson seedless I discussed last week, are a fresh grape that is being picked right now. The variety is a cross between Black Muscatel and Ribier grapes, they look like black muscatels but have a less pronounced flavour. I just think eating a freshly picked piece of fruit where possible has got to be the best option.

HOW TO PICK
Choose grapes with a crisp firm flesh. Avoid soft or wrinkled fruit.

HOW TO STORE
Store unwashed grapes in an airtight container or in a sealed plastic bag in the fridge. For longer lasting grapes, wash only just before serving.
